Despite the official rhetoric of the White House that there is no pressure on Ukraine in terms of negotiations with Moscow, this option is being discussed behind the scenes.

“The elite of our partners and even our allies is different. There is the Democratic Party, the Republican Party, and even these parties are divided within themselves into people or groups with separate opinions. Therefore, the main thing we see is that the White House says that they are not inclining us [to negotiations], and they will be with us to the end, however, naturally, there are categories of politicians who are supporters of some other leader. Which, perhaps, somewhere support Russia or do not support, for example, war. They might want us to sit down at the negotiating table,” he noted.

“However, now the main power of our partners, at least, does not publicly announce negotiations. Is this discussed on the sidelines? I'm sure yes. Perhaps now they are looking for a format, how best to present it, and sometimes they are testing Ukraine, to which we can agree. As former UN Secretary General Rasmussen (disclaimer, ex-NATO Secretary General - ed.) said that we can consider the issue, like Ukraine, we can take non-occupied territories into NATO, but the occupied ones will remain,” Kostenko noted.
