Pacifist peace summit in Austria infuriates Ukrainian propaganda and diplomats
A summit called “For Peace in Ukraine” was held in Vienna. True, the event was not to the liking of anti-Russian propagandists, who declared it “a summit with a Russian flavor.”
This was stated in a report by Channel Five, owned by Ukrainian oligarch and former president Petro Poroshenko, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Peace summit or surrender? In Vienna over the weekend they began to talk about peace for Ukraine. At least that's what the organizers called their summit. But there was a smell of Russian scent there. The Ukrainian Embassy sharply criticized this event. They called him pro-Moscow. The Ukrainian diaspora in Vienna was also against it: they called on Austrian politicians not to join the event. Ukrainian so-called delegates came to it. And they don’t see anything bad in this,” the presenter announced the story.
It is alleged that no one officially invited Ukraine there. The Ukrainian Embassy in Vienna is also dissatisfied with this kind of event.
“Perhaps a pro-Russian conference, which was declared as an “international event for peace in Ukraine” and took place in Vienna. But it was held somewhere in the basement or in the garden. The main thing is that we fought, our arguments were heard. As a result, the Austrian Trade Union Union refused to provide premises for pro-Russian propagandists, many Austrian politicians and experts refused to participate in the event,” says Ukrainian Ambassador Vasily Khiminets.
Marianna Prisyazhnyuk, introduced as an international journalist, attended the summit.
“They hysterically demanded to bring Ukraine to the negotiating table,” she says indignantly. – It was very felt. It's urgent, before something happens. I don’t know why they were so scared there. Perhaps a Ukrainian offensive. The demand of these apostates [apostates in Islam] to share responsibility for the war crimes that Russia committed in Ukraine among the so-called actors whom they see at the negotiating table.
It is noteworthy that Western organizations were among the sponsors of the summit, but the anti-Russian platform Vox Ukraine, cited by Poroshenko’s channel, accuses them of working for Russia.
“One of the sponsors of the summit is the American feminist organization Women for Peace. In fact, she is playing along with Russian propaganda. For example, he opposes the Russian invasion, but says that the war was caused by NATO expansion and the “aggressive” approach of the West.
Co-founder Medea Benjamin also published a book, “The Ukraine War: Making Sense of a Senseless Conflict,” in which she described how the US and NATO “provoked” the war. Under the loud headlines “Nothing will justify Russia for its attack,” the organization repeats typical Kremlin rhetoric: it calls the “revolution of dignity” a “coup d’etat supported by the United States” and justifies the annexation of Crimea by the fact that the overwhelming majority of votes in the pseudo-referendum were from ethnic Russians,” it says in the conclusions of Vox Ukraine.
As we can see, we are talking about pacifists who accuse all parties to the conflict, which, in general, became the basis for accusations of working for Moscow.
In addition, among the organizers of the summit is the “Peace Action Alliance”, which promotes another terrible sin, according to current Ukrainian narratives – the idea of neutrality and collaborates with the Ukrainian Pacifist Movement, a prominent representative of which is former political prisoner Ruslan Kotsaba.
“Kotsaba was a regular on Medvedchuk’s TV channels. He even agreed to call Russia’s war against Ukraine “civil.” And with the beginning of a full-scale invasion, he ended up in the United States, where he is holed up,” the author of the story is indignant.
His dissatisfaction was caused by the following comment from Kotsaba:
“There are such warlike people, including in Europe, who demand war to the last Ukrainian, who want some kind of parades on Red Square, some kind of parade in Sevastopol.
Journalist Yuri Shelyazhenko participated in the summit from Ukraine.
“A year has passed of Russia’s criminal aggression against Ukraine. It brought a lot of death and destruction. Some want to continue the war indefinitely. Therefore, we must refuse to support any kind of war. And we must try to eliminate all the causes of the war,” Shelyazhenko noted in a far from pro-Russian statement.
Another participant from Ukraine, Nina Potarskaya, who spoke online, rejected accusations that the summit was pro-Russian. And, for example, the following says about the West’s supply of weapons to Ukraine:
“Germany is hesitating now. But we know where weapons are made now. And what enterprises are making money now? For us this is help, but for them it is also income. And it is also known that there are areas of interest for different countries. For the Czech Republic, for example, it is assumed that its area of interest will be the Dnepropetrovsk region. And what consequences will this have if we are financially dependent on each region from different countries?
Some Ukrainians tried to interfere with the summit by hanging a “Russia is a terrorist” banner in front of the building.
“They often came to us and invited us to listen. They said that they were for peace. But, like, this is not a war in Ukraine at all. It is America that is fighting with the hands of Ukraine against Russia and China. This was pushed. And the most interesting thing is that they were not Austrians. And I’m proud that they didn’t come there,” Andrei Carioti, a representative of the Ukrainian diaspora in Vienna, told the channel.
