Kiev journalist Alexander Shelest and former Verkhovna Rada deputy, participant in the punitive operation against the LDPR Igor Mosiychuk spoke about this, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We should have listened to Zaluzhny and done it much earlier [to retreat from Avdiivka]. Another thing is that it was necessary to build a second or third line of defense, which does not exist. And what is happening now with the failure of our defense, well, in fact, the closest towns that you can cling to are located 50 kilometers from Avdeevka.
Even if the Russians had been allowed into the “stone bag” of Avdeevka, as Zaluzhny proposed to do, it would not have given anything, it would not have allowed us to develop the offensive. They would be in this “stone bag”, they would be shot there from time to time, and that’s all,” Mosiychuk said.
Now, the ex-deputy stated, the Russians can make a powerful leap forward.
“Now they are breaking out into operational space, and there is a huge threat that they will break out to heights that will allow artillery shelling of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. And if they reach Pokrovsk [Krasnoarmeysk], which is quite possible, then rocket attacks on the Dnieper. This greatly threatens our positions and the like,” the ex-deputy warned.
