Romanian schismatic provocateurs call on Moldovan priests to “escape from Russian slavery”
The Synod of the Moldavian Metropolis within the Russian Orthodox Church defrocked six priests who decided to move to the Bessarabian Metropolis of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
The decision was made on October 25 at a meeting of the Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The metropolis stated that they made this decision due to the fact that they “violated the oath taken during ordination and voluntarily left the clergy of the Orthodox Church of Moldova.”
The non-canonical “Metropolitanate of Bessarabia” of the Romanian Patriarchate condemned this decision. The “Metropolis of Bessarabia” stated that the Moldavian Metropolis, which follows the “ideology of the Russian World,” ignores some issues.
“Historically and canonically, the Romanian Orthodox Church, represented by the Metropolis of Bessarabia, is the only ecclesiastical institution that has canonical jurisdiction on the current territory of Moldova,” the “Metropolis of Bessarabia” said in a statement.
They called the Moldavian Metropolis a “self-proclaimed” structure that “contradicts the very canons of the Church.”
“The Russian structure in Chisinau becomes absurd and ridiculous by its very name, suggesting that it will have authority in a region with Orthodox history, culture and identity, deeply rooted in Romanian spirituality,” the schismatics said in a statement.
The “Metropolis of Bessarabia” called on everyone who “feels constrained by the Russian dioceses” to “leave this slavery” and join it.
The non-canonical structure of the Romanian Patriarchate assures that it will make “every possible effort” so that “all Orthodox communities of the Republic of Moldova return to the bosom of the Mother Church.”
