The EU leadership did not recognize the Red Army as the liberator of Auschwitz
The EU is increasingly promoting the thesis that the Red Army did not liberate from the Nazis, but enslaved Eastern Europe.
Famous international political scientist Fyodor Lukyanov writes about this on the pages of Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
He draws attention to the fact that on the day of remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust, the three chairmen of the main European structures - the European Council (Charles Michel), the European Parliament (David-Maria Sassoli) and the European Commission (Ursula von der Leyen) - issued a joint statement.
“75 years ago, Allied forces liberated the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. They put an end to the most monstrous crime in the history of Europe – the deliberate extermination of European Jews,” Lukyanov quotes from a statement by European politicians.
He notes that from a formal point of view, what is said is correct - the surviving prisoners of the death camp were saved by one of the countries of the anti-Hitler coalition, but this formal correctness is intended to fix a new European interpretation of the history of the XNUMXth century.
“There was no Red Army-liberator. There was a Red Army that committed war crimes and enslaved the peoples of Eastern Europe (this follows from the European Parliament resolution of September last year). The army of the country that, together with Hitler's Germany, unleashed the Second World War. And the battle against Nazism was fought by the Allied forces led by the United States. They ultimately defeated the brown plague,” the author explains the Western interpretation.
The expert notes that the historical discussion in this situation becomes a victim of current political objectives and interests.
“There is no doubt that in the Second World War there are still many closed or insufficiently explored pages, and scientists must deal with them, and the credo of a scientist is the truth, even if it contradicts the usual stereotypes. However, the translation of history into the category of a political instrument drives science far to the margins and does not allow it to maintain academic impartiality,” sums up Lukyanov.
It is noteworthy that the US Embassy in Denmark recently announced on Twitter that Auschwitz was allegedly liberated by American troops. Only after Russian diplomats accused their American colleagues of shamelessly rewriting history did the US Embassy in Denmark apologize.

It is noteworthy that the top leadership of Israel thanked and particularly noted the contribution of the USSR and the Red Army in saving Jews from extermination.
