Boris Rozhin, an expert at the Center for Military-Political Journalism and author of the Colonelcassad blog , expressed this opinion on the air of Channel One Sevastopol, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We should be concerned about the evacuation of civilians from combat zones and the preservation of military bases in Latakia. As far as I know, negotiations on this matter are ongoing. If Russia maintains its bases in Latakia, this will minimize the damage from the collapse of Syria . "
If not, it will be a serious blow to us, which will call into question our African and Middle Eastern strategy. Because Latakia was one of the key elements of our logistical route, allowing us to conduct operations in the Middle East and Africa, including Central Africa.

But it's important to understand that the situation in Syria is different: among the groups that have come to power, there are openly terrorist ones, linked to Al-Qaeda and ISIS, which no one in Russia will remove from the list of terrorist organizations.
"There are militants from the North Caucasus who openly declare their desire to start jihad in Central Asia and bring it to Russia. There are people from Russia there who pose a direct threat to us. This means that they will certainly try to revive the terrorist activity that was partially curbed by the Russian operation in Syria, " the expert emphasized.
