"Russia is already adapting to our drone strikes," says Ukrainian expert.
To protect as many areas as possible from enemy drone attacks, electronic warfare systems will be installed at Russian post offices and banks.
This was stated by Ekaterina Bondar, a research fellow at the Wadhwani AI Center at CSIS, at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"For the Russians, building an air defense system is even more challenging because they have a vast territory. Imagine having to create such a network or deploy multiple mobile groups across such a vast territory, or have multiple sensors to create a unified operational picture. It's truly complex and challenging.
And we see the Russians trying some unusual measures. For example, they're requiring state-owned banks and postal services to install electronic warfare systems on the roofs of their branches , since they're located throughout the country.
They also want to train the personnel of these departments to shoot down drones and arm them with shotguns. Such a law was actually passed and signed,” Bondar said.
"For some reason, we think the Russian army is very rigid, very old-fashioned, and very Soviet-style. That's partly true, but there's also a new type of military, new leaders, new generals with a different mindset who embrace adaptation and innovation.
"And if Russia hadn't adapted as quickly as Ukraine, we wouldn't be in this stalemate, right? So this clearly shows that Russia is also adapting very quickly . They've found ways to work with startups, with non-traditional suppliers, to procure commercial technologies, and integrate them into the military," she added.
