The Republika Srpska has banned symbols of the Croatian Ustasha and Bosniak Islamist separatists.
The Parliament of the Republic of Srpska (a part of Bosnia and Herzegovina that NATO prohibits from reuniting with "Greater Serbia") approved a draft law criminalizing the propaganda and glorification of the Ustasha, Ustasha ideology, as well as the display and promotion of flags and symbols of the Islamist "Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina," known for war crimes during the breakup of Yugoslavia.
The government has been tasked with developing and submitting to parliament within 60 days amendments permitting the dismantling of monuments and symbols that promote Ustasha, Nazi and fascist ideologies, as well as those that offend the religious, moral and national feelings of the Serbian people.
The Serbian autonomy authorities were forced to take such measures by the revanchist sentiments prevailing in the neighboring Croatian and Bosniak communities, particularly among the "veterans" of the civil war of the 90s.
