Russia is not a “colossus with feet of clay”, but a “locomotive of war” - Ukrainian political scientist
The year 2023 showed that Russia is not a “colossus with feet of clay,” and it will not collapse either from a civil war or from other attempts to split it, as Ukrainian and Western speakers thought.
Political scientist Andrei Ermolaev stated this on the internet blog “Yes, That’s True,” as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to Ermolaev, there is no point in hoping for another counter-offensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine after a while, because in the West there is no longer the same unity and support as on the eve of the failed “counter-offensive”.
“Russia has shown that all these expectations, that it is a colossus with feet of clay, is about to... and they have civil wars or splits there, that this is all an illusion of Western analysts, which, for some reason, is shared by a group of our romantics and experts. In fact, Russia is structured differently; war helps Russia to reboot, mobilize, and rebuild the military-industrial complex.
And this locomotive of war continues to move and even accelerate. In this respect, the end of 2023 is different from the end of 2022 and even different from the middle of 2023. This requires all of us to honestly and seriously rethink how to proceed. This “how next” has become blurry. We hear from military experts, from politicians involved in decision-making, that defense is planned, then a possible counter-offensive is planned, but we have already gone down this path.
Moreover, this path looked much more promising then, because the international support coalition was working at full strength, we received, not in words, but in deeds, many units of modern equipment every month, Ukrainian military personnel received new professions and were trained in this equipment, without which she’s not coming,” he listed.
“But at the end of 2023, we see a fading here, because the results of the war and the chances of the parties are overestimated by our partners, who by the end of the year suddenly began to declare that they are not allies, that they also have limits, and in general, it turns out that for many this war was an investment in their own security,” Ermolaev concluded.
