When asked whether the Russian Armed Forces could cope in the event of a direct clash with NATO, the general answered unequivocally.
"We'll manage. We were preparing for war with NATO. The forces deployed today, starting with the 101st Division ( in Romania – ed. ), are massive, they have about eighteen thousand people there, but they don't have very heavy weapons.
The forces that are being deployed in the Baltic states are nothing more than deterrent forces at this stage, so that we keep some kind of group there on their borders.
Today the topic of the Baltic states is not relevant - only if there is no threat to Kaliningrad. If there is a threat to Kaliningrad, then it will be more than relevant, and we will have to work there in any case.
And those forces that are on the borders today, what we are saying - what is located near Belarus, the landing of Belarus itself will hold back, even without us,” Gurulev said.
He noted that American aircraft carriers, which are constantly being used to scare people in Washington, will not be able to oppose anything to the Russian Kinzhal hypersonic missiles.
“Another question is that this will affect not only the division. The first is air strikes, a group of aviation, a group of missile forces. Their Tomahawks are mostly sea-based. There is a very good thing against them - this is the “Dagger”. Because any dagger - this NATO trough will immediately sink, and is guaranteed. They understand this very well. It was not for nothing that the MiG-31 flew to Belarus. They didn’t come for Ukraine, I assure you.
This is precisely for the enemy’s naval strike groups, which are equipped with Tomahawk missiles. The same thing, our MiGs are in Syria. Do we know about this? We know. Also with “Daggers”. There are their ship groups in the Mediterranean.
And when some idiot from America shouts that we are ready with our aircraft carriers against Russia. This is such a big target that it is extremely difficult to miss. It will fly there, and this trough will joyfully drown, and they will never pick it out of there. NATO members will never attack with any ground forces, as we usually do,” the general emphasized.
