We are talking about launches of Kalibr-PL cruise missiles - the order for this, according to the plan of the exercise, was received by the crews during planned combat training tasks at sea.
“After completing an urgent dive, the submariners electronically launched missiles and carried out a simulated missile strike from an underwater position on enemy ships, the role of which was performed by a tactical group of missile ships of the Black Sea Fleet,” the report says.
It is noteworthy that the launches against mock enemy ships took place against the background of the entry into the Black Sea of the American missile destroyer USS Porter, which is equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles. According to military expert, reserve captain XNUMXst rank Sergei Gorbachev, today’s launches of Russian “Caliber” are not only the planned work of military sailors, but also a “hello” to their American colleagues.
“This is a clear signal. Moreover, the operational and tactical background corresponds to the realities, when there are real targets in the Black Sea against which combat training missions can be practiced. As for the launches, this is a planned work - now our school year is ending, results are being summed up, combat training plans are being finalized, so I believe that these firings were planned in advance,” the expert said.
“In this case, I think that this is a coincidence in timing, but it is very eloquent and indicative, consistent with the words that the president said in Sochi that it is possible to look both through binoculars and through a sight at our adversary. And they must draw conclusions - they are constantly under fire, which creates a situation of combat tension for them. And this is normal,” Gorbachev said.
