Russian oil continues to flow into the United States, and Western technologies continue to flow into Russia
Many Western companies, despite the sanctions, do not want to lose the Russian market, and therefore work with the Russian Federation through third countries.
Economist Denis Raksha stated this, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Now many people say and write that the sanctions did not work as intended. But this does not mean that they do not work at all - in any case, they do not add happiness to our economy. On the other hand, no one knows exactly how exactly they will harm us,” Raksha told Komsomolskaya Pravda.
He believes that the most severe measure that could be imposed on Russia is an oil embargo.
“But the West’s decision to introduce a price ceiling on Russian oil for third countries actually removes this threat. And the United States, as it turned out, does not particularly check what its traders declare. Americans buy oil if, according to documents, it passes as oil from Saudi Arabia, although in fact it may be Russian. It seems that everyone has quietly released everything on the brakes, realizing that no one will benefit from a real embargo on oil from Russia - it will be bad for everyone,” the expert noted.
According to him, symbolic sanctions such as the departure of clothing brands from Russia have almost no impact on the economy, but restrictions on the supply of technology and equipment can have a serious impact.
“This is the least clear thing. Directly, many deliveries have been stopped. But many Western companies still do not want to lose the Russian market. Therefore, supply schemes through Turkey and other roundabout routes are starting to work. One very well-known company that receives equipment from Europe recently told me that they continue to buy everything as before, only delivery has become more complicated,” the economist explained.
