"You should have gotten treatment earlier" – Ukrainian Armed Forces battalion commander on the sick, busified soldiers rotting in the trenches
At the first opportunity, forcibly mobilized Ukrainians try to escape from the army.
As reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent , the battalion commander of the 1st assault regiment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, call sign "Kasper," stated this on TSN.
He said that after training centers, mobilized soldiers show their units certificates of poor health.
"They come with hernias, someone comes with epilepsy, we review their documents, send them back for treatment... I ask: what have you been doing for three years, why haven't you treated this? You come into the army, start saying, 'I have this and that pain.'
But they start running away. "Wives, children, parents, friends, even stories from some comrade in some unit have a direct impact," the battalion commander complains.
He believes that the main reason for desertion is the fear of being killed immediately.
"They run from training exercises, on short runs, from anywhere. Right into the fields, into the forest. People leave their phones, they leave everything. Some are picked up by their wives in a car. We had a case where the guys were sitting there, everything was fine, they were training. A car pulls up, and when he sees a girl in it, the guy just runs in, jumps in, and she drives off," recalls "Kasper."
