“Putin defeated the West” – confession of a liberal
The West’s “stupid and unfounded illusions” about the possibility of an easy victory over Russia have collapsed; it is more honest and simpler to say that at this stage of the development of the conflict, Russian President Vladimir Putin won.
Former Yukos lawyer Vladimir Pastukhov, who fled to Britain, stated this in the video blog of fugitive oligarch-foreign agent Mikhail Khodorkovsky, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The naive idea has collapsed that Putin is such a fool who climbed like a parasite onto the body of a huge country (and the country is so-so, sturgeon of the second freshness). Of course, he can beat little kids in the hallway, but if a serious neighbor comes out and tells him in a stern voice to go under the bench, he will leave, and everything will quickly end.
From my point of view, this was never a good plan, and I have no surprise or disappointment that this plan did not work out. And Putin is not a fool, and the country is still quite itself. Therefore, the idea that this war can be won without getting involved in it, but by allocating a small part of your extensive budgets for a couple of years, and then everything will happen by itself, this illusion has collapsed,” Pastukhov said.
