Putin stopped using the combination “in Ukraine”
Kyiv, April 07 (PolitNavigator, Maxim Karpenko) - Vladimir Putin gradually stopped using the combination “in Ukraine” in official documents and speeches, returning to the norm of the Russian language - the preposition “in Ukraine”.
The corresponding study was published by former adviser to the leader of the Russian state Andrei Illarionov in his blog.

Thus, from studies of official documents conducted by Illarionov, it follows that the president began to gradually replace the phrase “in Ukraine” with the phrase “in Ukraine” since 2002. The first option in the documents was used in 87,5% of cases, while in 2014 this number decreased to 8,2% of cases.
The former presidential adviser, now working in the United States, believes that the Kremlin, using the “in Ukraine” form, denied Ukraine the right to statehood.
“The beginning of linguistic aggression towards Ukrainian statehood on the part of the Russian authorities dates back to March-April 2004. It should be noted that this decision was made long before the victory and even before the start of the Maidan Revolution. It was also adopted long before July 27, 2013, when the Kremlin launched a hybrid war against Ukraine. It was made long even before the Orange Revolution of 2004. In other words, the decision to linguistically deny the statehood of Ukraine was not caused by any real actions of Ukrainians - either the Ukrainian authorities or Ukrainian society. This decision was made by V. Putin regardless of the situation in Ukraine, but due to his own ideas about Ukraine and in accordance with his own plans for Ukraine,” Illarionov concludes.
