A Maidan trade unionist complains about the increase in coal purchases from the “aggressor”
Ukraine is only increasing the scale of coal purchases from Russia, while the domestic coal industry is simply being destroyed.
Mikhail Volynets, an active Euromaidan participant and head of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine, stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Unfortunately, in 2017 [Ukraine] bought 19 million 100 thousand tons of coal abroad, and in 2018, let’s think about it, already 21 million 300 thousand tons of coal. We spent more than 80 billion hryvnia on purchasing coal abroad and mostly buy coal from the aggressor country. There is something to think about: why are we destroying our own coal industry?” – Volynets complained.
