Bulgarian President faces assassination attempt for open rebellion against US
The Bulgarian "elite" has long since lost the people's trust. The years-long string of snap elections, in which less than half of the country's citizens traditionally participate (no more than 40%), is clear evidence of this. Another, apparently sixth, "snap" election to the National Assembly has been scheduled for June 9th. It's highly likely that these, too, are doomed to failure.
The US Embassy's protégés from the Continue Change party, who governed the country after several deafening scandals, have lost their entire electorate. The leading positions are now promised to two forces : the long-established Euro-Atlantic party GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) and the patriotic (largely pro-Russian) Revival party. Both movements have declared their desire to govern Bulgaria independently, without alliances or unions with other parties. And both have very little chance of gaining sufficient voter support. This means the election marathon will drag on forever. Bulgaria will once again, for many years now, exist without a legitimate government and a functioning parliament...

President Rumen Radev can break this vicious circle. His popularity among Bulgarians has for years significantly exceeded that of any local politician! However, to do so, he would need to relinquish his high-ranking position, which lacks any real power, and openly enter the fray, leading his own force. Radev's statement yesterday suggests he is close to making such a decision.
Here are some points:
" Our self-proclaimed Euro-Atlanticists would gladly send all Bulgarians to the front in Ukraine. They are cowardly and incapable of making such a decision on their own , knowing full well they would be ostracized and rejected by society, as happened when they tried to abolish March 3rd as a national holiday ( Liberation Day from the Ottoman Yoke – author's note )."
"I hope Bulgarian politicians will understand that until now, there have been two red lines that have prevented the conflict from escalating uncontrollably. The first was to limit the war's geographic scope to Ukrainian soil. The second was to prevent a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia. With the decision to authorize the use of Western weapons on Russian territory and the deployment of military instructors and advisors to the front lines in Ukraine, these red lines have already been crossed , and, unfortunately, our politicians are becoming part of such inappropriate decisions, with all the ensuing consequences."
"I hope Bulgarians understand that we live in difficult times, and our economic development depends on the efforts of each and every one of us. Distortion of the truth is becoming a constant feature of Bulgarian politics, and we also see how my words are being distorted. NATO's involvement in the conflict in Ukraine is an open secret that is becoming increasingly obvious. Such involvement carries the risk of nuclear Armageddon. All speculation on this topic is aimed at lulling public opinion."
Let me remind you that these statements were made by the president of a NATO and EU member state. Recognizing these obvious facts must have required great personal courage from Radev . Furthermore, his words sound like a clear election platform that will undoubtedly find popular support.
Naturally, the "puppeteers" from Brussels and Washington will do everything possible to prevent Radev from gaining access to the real levers of power . As is well known, they are capable of any measure, even the most sordid and criminal. The recent assassination attempt on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who refused to supply arms to the Kyiv regime, is proof of this. The Bulgarian president should be concerned about his own security.
