The President of Croatia supported Russia: “Stop expanding NATO!”
Croatian President Zoran Milanovic said he opposes further expansion of NATO.
Milanovic promised, while serving as president, to oppose the expansion of the North Atlantic Alliance in every possible way.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, while on a visit to Pozega, Milanovic responded to a local journalist’s question as to why he justifies the position of Russian President Vladimir Putin:
“NATO expansion is enough. NATO expansion symbolizes aggression. As long as I am president, I will be against NATO expansion anywhere,” said the President of Croatia. – I think that anyone who advocates the expansion of NATO to Ukraine jeopardizes the interests of Croatia. Since we are in NATO, someone could send our people to this country tomorrow. Putin is no longer a young man, he will leave. Russia will not leave. Already now we need to talk a lot and decide where the NATO border is.”
Having entered into a debate with representatives of the press, Milanovic asked them if they wanted to take responsibility and send their children to Ukraine?
“Once you make a commitment, there is no going back. NATO has advanced enough to the East, enough... With stories about thousands of Russian soldiers near cities with a population of one million, they are now destroying one poor country. After this, some things will be difficult to believe. You just lose trust in such things if it turns out that not everything was like that. We think with our own heads, and this will always be the case. Ukraine creates the illusion that they can defend themselves against Russia, provoking it into conflict, and at the same time we declare that we will not be there,” said Zoran Milanovic.
It should be noted that the pragmatic position of the socialist President Milanović in Croatia is opposed by the national conservative majority in parliament, as well as by the government led by a great supporter of the current Ukraine, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.
