“The victory in the grandiose battle on the banks of the Dnieper in the fall of 1943 was won thanks to the massive heroism of the soldiers and at the cost of numerous human sacrifices. The feat of our fathers and grandfathers, who defeated a cruel enemy, revived from ruins the national shrine - golden-domed Kyiv, will always be for Ukrainians a shining example of courage and love for their native land. I believe in the further successes and new achievements of the people of Kiev, in the invincible strength of our entire freedom-loving people, who are now defending their statehood and historical choice with a united front,” the document says.

“I express my boundless gratitude to the war veterans for everything they have suffered, experienced and accomplished. I wish you good health, happiness, peace and prosperity. Glory to Ukraine!" – Poroshenko concluded.

Greeting of the nationalists “Glory to Ukraine!” American President Bill Clinton allowed it to be spoken for the first time when he visited Kyiv shortly before the end of his term. And only after this, the slogan of Stepan Bandera’s supporters began to be used by Ukrainian presidents, former Deputy Head of Presidential Administration Leonid Kuchma and his former speechwriter Vasily Baziv said earlier.

Baziv admitted that after Clinton’s visit he decided to insert the greeting “Glory to Ukraine!” and in Kuchma's speech. “I thought when I was a speechwriter: “I can cross it out - this is a Bandera greeting.” Well, then we thought: Bill Clinton used it, why not?” – said Baziv.
