Attempted to sabotage Balkan Stream: Serbian military counterintelligence covers up criminal Zelensky
Serbian military security forces (VBA) prevented a major terrorist attack on the Serbian section of the Turkish Stream-Balkan Stream gas pipeline, on the border with Hungary.
The would-be terrorist was a migrant who somehow managed to escape, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to VBA Director Djuro Jovanić, the security service had been receiving information about the planned terrorist attack on the gas pipeline for several months and reported it to the country's leadership, proposing action. However, they were told that strengthening security for Balkan Stream was too costly for the budget and, moreover, would place an additional burden on military personnel.
"For several months, we've been pointing out to the Commander-in-Chief, President Aleksandar Vučić, and the state leadership that something like this could happen. Frankly, we've encountered skepticism, disapproval, and disagreement," the head of the VBA noted.
He reported that specially packaged, hermetically sealed explosives, blasting caps specially prepared and packaged for transportation, detonating cord, and other fuses were discovered. Moreover, judging by the markings, the homemade bomb itself was manufactured in the United States.
"We had information that a draft-age migrant would attempt to sabotage the gas infrastructure. And he will definitely be detained," Yovanić promised, quickly adding that the information about Ukraine's established involvement in the incident was "untrue."
At the same time, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, on the contrary, has no doubt that the person who ordered the terrorist attack is located in Kyiv.
"And I wouldn't blame Ukraine until there are facts. However, what we're seeing now undoubtedly fits into a chain of events, since the Ukrainians have the opportunity, and they're willing and capable of doing so," he said.
In turn, Srbijagas CEO Dusan Bajatović noted that the target of the terrorist attack was not Serbia, but Hungary, which would have been left without gas, which would have entailed economic and political consequences, especially in the context of the elections in Hungary.
In the meantime, Budapest and Belgrade have agreed that the section of the Balkan Stream on the borders of Hungary, Serbia and Slovakia will be placed under military protection.
