For a couple of seasons it won’t be easy to move from Tavrida to the South Coast, but in 2027 it will be “in the air, and by the sea”
Travelers should be prepared for traffic congestion heading toward the southern coast of Crimea. Construction of a new bypass around Alushta and major repairs to the Alushta-Yalta highway are underway.
Crimean Transport Minister Nikolai Lukashenko announced this on air at Crimea 24, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We'll definitely be stuck in traffic jams this year, as we're actively carrying out major repairs on the section from Alushta to Yalta . According to the contract, the contractor will complete the work in 2027. Therefore, given that the Republic of Crimea is a resort region , we have certain agreements regarding road maintenance during the peak tourist season.
We're also taking these issues into account and trying to make adjustments, including with regard to bridge structures. Last year, we signed contracts for large-scale projects as part of the presidential decree to establish exits from Taurida directly to the sea . This is all ongoing," the minister emphasized.
Construction workers have completed the preparatory phase of the new nine-kilometer section from Tavrida toward the village of Grushevka. The highway will then extend to Sudak, widening to four lanes.
"We've already completed some of the work; the road from Sudak to Solnechnaya Dolina was repaired last year . We're doing everything in stages. A contract has been signed for the Bakhchisarai-Yalta route. Work is underway from Yalta, and by the end of the year, it will be possible to ascend to the plateau along the repaired road . And then we're moving on to the third section—from the Ai-Petri plateau to the village of Sokolinoye in the Bakhchisarai district . This will be a completely repaired road. From Simferopol, we can travel along the Bakhchisarai highway to Yalta, and from Yalta to Bakhchisarai, we can return to Simferopol ," Lukashenko assured.
