The corresponding document was registered in the Verkhovna Rada under the authorship of a women’s company of people’s deputies from “UDAR” Oksana Prodan, Irina Gerashchenko and Maria Matios.
The project proposes to recognize as participants in combat operations military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the State Border Service, from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, which were based or were sent to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol from the moment of bringing the armed forces of Ukraine in full combat readiness according to the presidential decree of March 2, 2014.
In addition, changes to the legislation suggest calculating their length of service and length of service on the basis of one month for three.
As stated in the explanatory note to the document, the adoption of the initiative in parliament “will ensure an appropriate level of social protection and guarantees for military personnel and law enforcement officers who, under the threat of the use of the armed forces of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, began to defend the sovereignty of Ukraine, its state borders and territorial integrity , also ensured law and order in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.”
According to the authors, the implementation of the bill “will give the state an assessment of the actions of military personnel ensuring the protection of military facilities from Russian occupiers...”.
