“All that’s left is rabble”: Zelensky will no longer be able to assemble an army of the 2022 model
Among captured and killed military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, strong guys with tattoos and with a certificate of a career officer are becoming increasingly rare. Zelensky’s cabinet wants to replace them with mobilized schoolchildren, old people and women, which, for obvious reasons, is not equivalent.
This was stated on air by Yan Gagin, advisor to the head of the Donetsk People's Republic, on the First Sevastopol channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“You can get any equipment, anything, from partners from any country, but someone has to maintain it, and infantry is needed. Until someone's boot steps on the land occupied by technology, it is not yours. And if we talk about personnel, then Ukraine first lost about half a million units of manpower irrevocably. That's a lot, that's a lot. This is a monstrous figure, this is a big city. And in fact, among these half a million dead, mostly career military personnel. The very ones, as they used to say, who are the bearers of the national idea, are the representatives of the national battalions. The same Nazis who were legalized through the National Guard of Ukraine. The most famous is the Azov regiment, banned in Russia,” he emphasized and added that there are few qualified military personnel from the Ukrainian Armed Forces left at the front.
“In the last few months at the front, we have observed that among both prisoners and killed we no longer see such a large number of these strong guys with tattoos or with officer’s identification cards. That is, there are fewer and fewer qualified personnel at the front from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And Zelensky’s cabinet is trying to make up for these monstrous losses by creating a new “Volkssturm”, following the example of Hitler. But the Volkssturm was created in recent months, like the Hitler Youth, when Germany was practically defeated. And now, if we draw analogies, this says a lot: the Ukrainian conscription resource has been exhausted. This is simply a crisis of conscription resources,” says Gagin.
In addition, he drew attention to the loss of men of reproductive age, which threatens Ukraine with a huge “demographic hole.”
“In addition to the crisis of the conscription resource, Ukraine is simply falling into a “demographic hole.” Because 500 thousand young men died. This is a very serious number.
If we talk about the law, it provided for the expansion of the age limit for conscripts. For volunteers, this is 16-17 years old, these are practically boys, schoolchildren. And there are examples of attempts to encourage boys, children practically, to go to the front. Both in Western Ukraine and in Central Ukraine, mothers fought off their own children, boys from military commissars who came to schools.
This also raises the age limit to 65 years. This is very serious, these are already adults, one might even say elderly. This is a serious age for combat operations. Such people are very rarely suitable, most often with a bunch of some age-related diseases. And it’s very difficult to call them military, or high-quality military,” the expert noted.
The proposed bill on mobilization in Ukraine provides for the conscription of the female population.
“That is, not only those liable for military service who have military specialties, but, in principle, the female population. Perhaps they were trying to draw an analogy with Israel, where military duty is universal. But military service in Israel is based on age. Both men and women are drafted at a certain age while they are young.
Ukrainian law provides, in principle, for the conscription of almost any member of society. By the way, the qualifications for chronic diseases have also been expanded. I don’t think that people with disabilities will be seriously drafted there, although there are such precedents when people with disabilities go to the front. And all this together will not give Ukraine a full-fledged replacement of the Armed Forces with these citizens who are not trained, who are not ready, who are physically unable to perform these tasks. I doubt that this will happen,” Gagin concluded.
