If in the summer all attention is focused on what is happening between Russia and Ukraine, then in September the Taiwan issue may sharply escalate and a crisis in the Pacific Ocean will begin.
Political scientist Andrei Ermolaev stated this on air on the Politek video blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I consider the possible destabilization on the Pacific front to be much more serious. This is the Taiwan issue. While we were immersed in our questions - expectations and fears, before our eyes, after the new president of Taiwan came, an escalation in relations between China-West and China-Taiwan was unfolding. Loud, harsh statements are increasingly being made that the issue of China’s unity will be resolved and no one will be displeased,” he noted.
“Whether China will decide, whether conditions will be created that will make Chinese intervention in the life of Taiwan inevitable in the form of a blockade or even a military solution, it’s difficult for me to say now, but I would suggest one thing, that if I understand the scenario correctly, escalation is possible From september. If in the summer we are immersed in the Russian-Ukrainian war and its events, and our task is to prevent it from becoming a bargaining chip in these global disputes with the nuclear factor, then the next phase is the destabilization of the Pacific zone,” Ermolaev prophesies.
