Onishchenko did not receive a response from the Ministry of Defense on American biological weapons in Kazakhstan
Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Nikolai Pankov avoided answering a question from deputy Gennady Onishchenko, the former chief sanitary doctor of Russia.
The question was asked during a discussion of the issue of ratifying the military cooperation agreement with Kazakhstan, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Today, on the territory of Kazakhstan there is the most modern (we don’t have one) military biological base in Almaty. Military specialists work there. Their task is to create biological weapons. Because the US has never withdrawn from active military programs. How complete is an agreement on military cooperation if the US Army is located in the former capital and is developing biological weapons,” Onishchenko said.
“As for the mentioned laboratory, there are no provisions in the contract in relation to it and, probably, there cannot be,” answered Pankov.
The head of the Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Leonid Kalashnikov, who presented the agreement, explained that, among other things, it states that countries will not conduct intelligence activities against each other, and will not take actions to the detriment of each other’s security. The Kazakh side has not yet ratified the agreement.
The State Duma voted for ratification.
