Officers in Crimea who refused to swear allegiance to Ukraine in 1992 will be awarded memorial signs
The badge in memory of the events in the Black Sea Fleet and in Sevastopol in 1991-1992 was made on the initiative of the Advisor to the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Admiral Igor Kasatonov, who commanded the Black Sea Fleet in 1991-1992.
The scientific secretary of the Military Scientific Society of the Black Sea Fleet, Sergei Gorbachev, told PolitNavigator about this.

“In the center of the sign is the image of the first production frigate, Project 22350 “Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov.” On the laurel branch framing the sign are the numbers 1992 and 2017. In the upper part there is the coat of arms of Sevastopol, the Russian and St. Andrew’s flags, a stylized image of a naval shoulder strap with the abbreviation Black Sea Fleet, in the lower part there are admiralty anchors and the inscription: “25 years of fidelity to the oath. Russian Federation,” Gorbachev said.
The badge will be awarded to participants in historical events that took place 25 years ago – Black Sea residents, Sevastopol residents and Crimean residents.
“With the refusal of Black Sea sailors in January 1992 to take the oath to Ukraine, the struggle to preserve its southern fleet for Russia began. It was then, in the January days of 1992, that the springboard for the lightning-fast, bloodless victory of the Russian Spring of 2014 was preserved,” Gorbachev said.
