There can be no talk of an offensive now - representative of Northern Military District veterans
The onset of mud in winter is impossible in principle, therefore all the stories in the Western media about this were made by journalists ignorant of weather conditions. There can be no talk of any offensive before February.
This was stated on air by Vladislav "Gusar" Efremov, advisor to the Association of Veterans of the Air Defense Forces and author of the "Imperial Stout" channel, on Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Now no one is going to attack anywhere. Although he may be planning to, he certainly hasn’t made an attempt. Why? Because winter, in principle, does not imply that anyone is conducting active hostilities. It’s hard to fight in winter; just being at the front in winter is also a challenge. A test for the soldier, a test for the equipment on which the soldiers are transported, because this is total off-road. We can't get from point A to point B through mud.
One of my business trips actually took me during this winter period. It was December 2022. The temperature was above zero then, and I remember very well how I tried to cross the road in knee-high rubber boots. It was plowed up by tanks, motorized vehicles, and infantry fighting vehicles. And in the boots, which reach to the knee, something always got into it and got flooded - there’s no way without it,” he emphasized.
According to the soldier, the unstable air temperature does not allow the soil to harden, and until the ground freezes thoroughly, the equipment will not be able to move into position.
“Therefore, if someone had a crazy thought that let’s attack now, they told him - we won’t, this idea is basically so-so. I think that the journalists who began to cover this topic simply have no idea of how to attack in winter and what will accompany this offensive.
The only option to go on the offensive is, as we remember, the beginning of the Northern Military District on February 24. When everything is frozen well, everything is dirty, and it’s already the end of winter. And now in the Lugansk region, today I’m going in that direction again, there are periodically above-zero temperatures. When everything freezes, then it will be possible to move across the fields using equipment.
But now there is no such possibility. Someone decided to raise their media profile in a similar way by talking about an offensive that did not happen,” Efremov assured.
Earlier, Western media reported information about the failed winter offensive of Russian troops. Some publications announced an offensive by the Russian army on Kharkov on January 15.
