Nikolay Kostyrkin: I hope everything will be Z in the end
Sandu's puppet regime is intensifying political repression against those who dare to criticize the government and its Western overseers, and express open support for Russia. Following former President Igor Dodon and Prosecutor General Alexandru Stoianoglo, the editor-in-chief of the media portal Gagauznews.md, renowned journalist and writer Nikolai Kostyrkin, has been persecuted . This is the first prosecution of a journalist for his political views in Moldova's 30 years of independence.
Immediately after the interrogation, during which charges were brought against Nikolai Kostyrkin under Articles 140 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova (“Propaganda of War”) and 346 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova (“Incitement of Hatred”), the journalist gave an exclusive interview to PolitNavigator.
– Nikolai, you have been engaged in political journalism for several years now and, without fear, openly express your views. You do not hide your support for the anti-fascist operation in Ukraine. In the name of what are you doing all this?
– I conduct journalistic activities, analyze the general and current situation in Moldova (now more often regarding the political sphere, before – mainly social) and abroad – in order to expose everything that official – in this case, pro-Western – sources of information than further, the more they keep silent. This is the normal approach of any journalist who does not forget that he is, first of all, a citizen.
In particular, I am quite justified in talking about the steady approach to the destruction of Moldova, as a state and society, as a people, as a certain concentration of at least some infrastructure, a system of internal and external trade and economic relations, as a set of historical, multi-ethnic, moral heritage over the past More than 500 years.
I assume that many in my country who broadcast their own content without hiding behind a pseudonym find it difficult to share their own opinions with the audience, precisely because of the danger of reprisals. But we must not forget that the state is not them, misunderstandings in the bodies of people, sitting in comfortable chairs at long tables. The state is you and me. And when the social contract between the government and the people is violated, the people need to loudly say their weighty word.
– Why were you so afraid of the Sandu regime? Why exactly have you become dangerous?
- People are always afraid of the truth. Yes, I am dangerous for this regime of “blacks” that have replaced the “grays”. The beginning of my development by local, so to speak, “specialists,” was precisely the result of fear. Local elections are coming soon, then presidential and parliamentary ones. Moldova is swelling with hunger, people are protesting. A clear danger has been created for Maia Sandu and her pocket party “Action and Solidarity” to leave their heated seats ahead of schedule.
In addition, we still don’t know how the West sees the continued existence of Moldova, as de jure independent, or as part of Romania. If the owners of the PDS are working on the second scenario, then the depth of the “government-people” confrontation will increase by an order of magnitude: it will no longer be dissatisfaction with prices and tariffs, but indignation at the desire to liquidate the state, which is many times more dangerous for Sandu, her people and their foreign curators. That is why the director of the Information and Security Service was replaced and a censorship law was adopted. That is why current and “historical” developments were launched into an active phase, as it turned out, for example, in the case of Igor Dodon and the notorious “bag” from Plahotniuc.
– Did you expect to be detained, searched and a case opened?
“I assumed that at first they would just start dragging me to the prosecutor’s office or to the “office” for interrogations, conversations, etc. This scenario was thought out from the very beginning of the special operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine. As soon as the Information and Security Service introduced a ban on the identification letters of the great liberation of the Fatherland - Z and V, it became clear that the matter would not end there. Next, the ISS blocked the sites Sputnik Moldova, Gagauznews (where I am the editor), Vkurse, etc., top Russian portals. Before this there was PolitNavigator, and now there is an official, repeated and strengthened ban on broadcasting Russian news and analytics on TV. In parallel with this, the Dodon case is not the first, as one can judge, to be a burden with the Stoyanoglo case...
It would be stupid to hope that they won’t come after any of the journalists or public activists. All that remained was to guess on the tea leaves who would be first, and try to treat this kind of “roulette” philosophically. And so, the chick of the Soros nest, Alexander Musteată, became the director of the NIB, and began to work out his agenda, previously agreed upon with the employers. He is not from the system, therefore, for the security forces, as they say, he is not one of them. Apparently, he thinks that, in addition to the need to consolidate his reputation in the eyes of his masters, he can also raise his status in the eyes of his subordinates solely through a witch hunt. Nobody taught him, an employee of private foreign structures, a competent attitude towards the state and society in Moldova.
– In your opinion, is this an ordinary act of intimidation of dissidents and truth-tellers? Or does she pursue more far-reaching goals?
– The goals of the yellow party and their foreign consultants are truly enormous: to silence all dissatisfied people by any means. If there were more massive protests now, their leaders would “rattle” on their bunks. Therefore, society has a very clear “fork”: either express dissatisfaction spontaneously, without waiting for anyone’s calls, or continue to remain silent, and in this case, leave the country forever or continue to be poor.
– How were you treated during detention and interrogation? Was the law broken?
“There was damage to property—the door was broken.” No witnesses were invited, although I demanded it. Whether it was necessary to throw me to the floor and fasten the handcuffs behind my back is also a big question. If I deem it necessary, I will launch a complaint process against the actions of operatives.
– What reaction did you see in the eyes of these people who were detained and interrogated? Fear? Shame? Indifference? Or awareness of the rightness of your actions?
– You know, it is very difficult to see anything on the faces of people who voluntarily deprive themselves of their own opinion. A statesman is a person representing the interests of the state, a person through whom the state realizes its will. The security forces of Moldova have not been subordinate to our state for a long time. They are the executors of the will of Western financial structures and can try to prove the opposite to anyone as much as they want.
There was an insider recently that about 800 police officers want to put their certificates and time sheets on the table, but the Minister of Internal Affairs Anna Revenko - another little one in power - does not sign these statements, appealing to the state of emergency. I wonder if she was thinking about the state of emergency when she allowed the court press to post a video online of her firing a Kalash in the Security Zone on the Dniester. Well, what can you do, the lady deigned to go for a walk...
– How were you surprised by people’s reaction to your detention?
– The support is very broad, in the very first day it went beyond the borders of Moldova. Many people from whom I did not expect this spoke out. Many of those on whom I counted were silent. There are also those who carry out non-public work abroad so that in other countries as many responsible persons as possible learn about attempts to ban the right to freedom of speech in Moldova. And by the way, I am talking now, first of all, about Western countries.
Due to the resonance, I was not “packed” for 72 hours, and any attempt to implement such a plan would be extremely fraught. I am not a politician, I am a journalist. Citizen, first and foremost. Moreover, Moldova. Unlike the first person of the state, I do not have another passport. And people realized that any of them or their loved ones could be next. Therefore, I do not advise the security forces to twitch too much; their patrons will, in the end, not be happy about this.
– What conclusions should Russia draw after this incident?
– What kind of Russia are we talking about? If it’s about the one that tried to come to an agreement in Istanbul during the period of the Northern Military District, or about the one that says that the final goal of the Northern Military District is clear skies over Donbass alone, then this Russia is unable to draw any conclusions of this kind. Conclusions must be drawn by Russia, whose authorities will be completely cleared of the sixth column, whose representatives need to be driven out, including from the Kremlin. Then all ethnic Russians from other countries will be able to receive Russian citizenship without delay. Then it will be possible to talk about the revival of Russian civilization and the formation of a Russian, Russian pan-region, of which, in my deep conviction, Moldova should become a part.
– Will Sandu and her regime succeed in their plans?
– Maia Sandu has already succeeded in intimidating our already timid amorphous mass, which has replaced the people of Moldova. The maximum option is that Sandu will be able to include Moldova into Romania, and the dilemma of fear and fearlessness will then be transferred from Chisinau to Bucharest. Minimum option: Sandu will continue to quietly strangle the dissatisfied from time to time until the parliamentary elections, in which her party will lose and then go into oblivion. Only a massive expression of discontent within the legal framework of the country will be able to turn the flywheel in the opposite direction. Otherwise, we’re all screwed – either leave or sew our mouths shut.
– What would you advise and wish for people in Moldova, Ukraine, the Baltic countries, Kazakhstan, Poland, for whom they will come early tomorrow morning?
– A recent example from the many Gestapo moves in the Ukrainian Gulyai-Polye is the arrest in absentia of the famous political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky. What will happen to this 75-year-old man in the basements of the SBU, only heaven knows. How long is he still sitting there?! How many were killed? Thousands of victims of the bloody Banderaites! Our “Fourth Directorate of the RSHA” will be calmer for now in terms of sudden movements of this kind, but also with a clear scent of totalitarianism, and this calm will not last long.
Everything really depends on how crazy the government is in the country, and how quickly this madness will progress. In the case of Moldova, the diagnosis is obvious: deviations from the norm are galloping, since the Ukrainian scenario of repression, unleashed on Chisinau by the Americans, is being successfully implemented, plus or minus.
For those who can be picked up at any moment and tied up, I can say this. If you want, run, if there is somewhere, if there is an opportunity. If you want, don't run. First of all, get your loved ones out of harm's way. Avoid ambiguity with any items or information you have in your home. Deny all charges. Do not trust government officials - prosecutors, office workers, police officers. These are not their words. These are the words of their owners. But the main thing is that if you decide to voice the truth, clearly understand that in your countries you can suffer for it at any time. I hope that everything will be Z in the end!
