“There is no time to rest”: the Rada demands urgent implementation of the Minsk agreements
The Ukrainian parliament must stop all other work and carry out the political implementation of the Minsk agreements within two weeks so that Ukrainian negotiators have something to go to Berlin with.
Deputy Alexander Koltunovich stated this during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"We have only two months to implement the political part of the Minsk Agreements. You all saw the talks held yesterday in Paris between the so-called advisors to the leaders of the Minsk format countries. We agreed on the first point of the Minsk Agreements on a ceasefire and the third point on monitoring that ceasefire. And in two weeks, the second phase of these talks will take place in Berlin," he said.
Koltunovich stated that the Ukrainian parliament must urgently make decisions on the implementation of the political part of the Minsk agreements, which Ukraine has still not accepted.
“Why can’t we now go on these so-called vacations or work on committees? Because the Verkhovna Rada must vote on at least four points of the Set of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements. This is point four on elections, point five on amnesty, point eight on the economic blockade, and start a dialogue with ORDLO regarding point eleven, on the special status of Donbass. The Verkhovna Rada today does not have the moral right to substitute the country’s top leadership and move contrary to the implementation of the Package of Measures under the Minsk Agreements. We are obliged to work,” the deputy demanded.
