“Don’t cry, but act!”: Ukraine decided to “symbolically” help starving Africa
At the 10th meeting of the Public Council on Cooperation with Religious Organizations, it was decided to continue taking measures in memory of the victims of the famine of 1932-1933 in Ukraine. In particular, the council supported the initiative of the Secretary of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC Bohdan Dziurakh to hold an action to provide symbolic assistance to the countries of Africa and Asia that suffer the most from hunger, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
“Having experienced the tragedy of the deliberate extermination of the Ukrainian peasantry, when the totalitarian regime imposed on the world a silence about the facts of mass extermination by famine, Ukraine will honor the memory of the victims of the Holodomor by providing assistance to the population of other countries who are suffering from hunger,” the statement says.
Under the slogan “Don’t cry, but act! Indifference kills! It is planned to involve not only official structures in the action, but also Ukrainians in the country and abroad.
According to the latest UN report, the number of hungry people has been declining for many years, but recently the figure has begun to rise again. Currently, 815 million people in the world are undernourished. Now 37 countries of the world, including 28 African states, are in need of external food assistance.
