The conflict between Republicans and Democrats in the United States may be merely a pretext, as opposed to the real reason for the gradual halt in military aid to Ukraine – the loss of meaning in the confrontation.
“It so happened that this all happened against the backdrop of an internal political conflict between Republicans and Democrats in the United States. But perhaps this was just a background that made it possible to explain why this assistance was not approved,” Ukrainian economic expert Alexander Kushch said on the Vyshka channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“One of the most important strategic tasks of the West, which was associated with this war, was directed towards Russia and was associated with a change of political regime. This is the disorganization of the Russian army, the disorganization of the political system, internal conflicts. The collapse of Russia was not included in these strategic plans. But this spring, which opened up and was aimed at this, its apogee occurred in the summer of 2023.
It all came together at one point: Prigozhin’s rebellion, our counter-offensive - somewhere in July it should have worked. And then, indeed, perhaps Russia was one step away from the time of troubles, as a result of which very serious internal transformations could occur there. If this does not happen, then changes in strategic goals and objectives occur,” the expert said.
Host Vadim Karasev noted that US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan made it clear during a recent visit to Kyiv that the return of lost territories is no longer on the table.
