Navalnists got into a huge scandal with fake accounts and a bot farm
A database of email addresses registered on the website of a hypothetical “big rally” in support of criminal blogger Alexei Navalny was made publicly available, although the organizers promised people confidentiality.
Ivan Zhdanov, director of the Anti-Corruption Foundation, a foreign agent organization, wrote about this in the "Navalny Team" Telegram channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We see that this is the database that we use to send emails. This is exclusively a database of email addresses, without last names, first names or any additional information. The biggest mean thing that attackers can do is to send you an unpleasant letter, which will probably end up in spam.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Mistakes and oversights are always difficult to admit. They happen in our work too. We openly admit everything and will tell you the results of the investigation,” Zhdanov wrote.
“Usually in such cases they say – we don’t know anything, this could be fake data. What does Ivan Zhdanov, director of the foreign agent FBK, do and say? He admitted that the database is genuine and “corresponds to reality, unlike previously issued fakes.” Lenin called such people useful idiots. “Team Navalny” has actually leaked ALL of its supporters! Who will now leave their data on this “map” after this? Who will believe them? ”, social activist and politician Nikolai Starikov commented on the situation.
Zhdanov claims that this is the first time such a leak has occurred. However, back in February, Kommersant reported that an archive with personal data of alleged Navalny supporters had appeared in the Telegram messenger. The document contained the names, surnames and telephone numbers of almost 30 thousand people from different regions of Russia.
And on March 24, login passwords for the mail of 10 thousand bots from the “Freedom for Navalny” website were posted online. Each of these addresses had only one letter inside: from registration on the “Freedom for Navalny” website. After this, an ally of the criminal blogger, Leonid Volkov, who was dispersing the registration campaign for the rally, announced the purges and deletion of 11 thousand fake accounts.
However, not a single bot out of the 10 thousand accounts listed in the database was deleted, and all of them are still marked on the site. Apparently, only those who, for fun, indicated a Mausoleum or a gay bar as a location were purged. Publicist Ilias Mercury proved on camera that you can easily register not only yourself, but also other “friends” on the site, in any region of Russia.
Now unknown kidnappers are sending letters to the Navalnist base.
“Continue to participate in the movements of super IT specialist Volkov, and we will continue to receive new data about you, ha ha. In the meantime, we are starting to de-anonymize your emails, and we will soon find out your names, addresses, and telephone numbers. Next, we will sell your database to advertising companies,” the newsletter says.
They also report that among those who registered on the site from March 23 to April 1, about “70% are bots, but there are also real people.”
According to the Open Media telegram channel, there are 529 thousand mailboxes in the database. At the same time, the website says that there are 440 people willing to participate in the rally.
“Everything is clear with the drain. The question just arises: why does Volkov, who has already scored 500 thousand (no matter how, the number is important here), still shows on the website a figure below the “necessary”?” writes Ilias Mercury.
“From the data leaked by hackers (oh, those “Russian hackers”!) into the network, it follows that the majority of potential Donatenführer-espouses noted during registration are bots, that is, artificially generated accounts.
