He stated this on Channel 112 during a telephone conversation with journalists.
“I am now in Washington, but this is not the main reason why I could not attend. The main thing is that my three foreign passports - two civil and one diplomatic, were canceled on May 5 and I physically cannot cross the border of Ukraine in order to arrive at a committee meeting or a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada,” Artemenko answered when asked why he was not present at a meeting of the Regulations Committee during the consideration of the issue of depriving him of his deputy mandate.
According to the parliamentarian, he officially received information about the cancellation of foreign passports from border guards.
At the same time, when asked what he was doing in Washington, the MP replied: “I am defending my rights and trying to understand which country I am a citizen of now, since for the first time in history, a Ukrainian MP is stateless.”
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator previously reported, Poroshenko signed a decree depriving MP Andrei Artemenko of Ukrainian citizenship, who proposed his plan for resolving the military conflict in Donbass, in particular, with the lease of Crimea to Russia.
