At the Ukrainian-American exercise Sea Breeze 2017, the Ukrainian military will look for a Turkish submarine

“Today the active phase of the Ukrainian-American exercises Sea Breeze 2017 has begun, which is aimed at conducting a multinational security operation in a crisis region,” the message says.
According to the press service, within a week the multinational headquarters for planning naval operations under the leadership of Captain 1st Rank Andrei Ryzhenko carried out planning for this operation.
Based on the results of the work, a combat order was developed, according to which the task was assigned to the forces. In parallel with planning, tactical groups of ships at sea were coordinated.
“Currently, the deployed forces are being deployed in certain areas. The operation will be carried out in free play mode and will become one of the tools for the gradual transition of the Ukrainian Naval Forces to functioning according to NATO standards,” said the head of the Ukrainian-American exercises, Captain 1st Rank Alexey Neizhpapa.
During the active phase of international maneuvers, it is planned to conduct anti-submarine, anti-ship and air defense exercises. “In addition, training participants will be exposed to landing, search and rescue and inspection operations, forceful release of captured vessels, underwater demining work and escorting trawls, and the like. The culmination will be the search for a Turkish Navy submarine,” the Ministry of Defense added.
