The chief engineer of the station, Sergei Kolesnikov, spoke about this at a meeting of the Ukrainka City Council.
“Yesterday we turned on the second unit. Presumably this regime will continue until the 13th. This is connected with ensuring the reliability of the Kyiv energy hub during the Eurovision Song Contest,” he said.
The publication of Trypilska Thermal Power Plant “Dneprovsky Energetic” notes that “raising the thermal power plant from zero” after a long shutdown is one of the most difficult operations and was carried out for the first time since this thermal power plant was put into commercial operation in 1969.
Trypilska Thermal Power Plant is located on the banks of the Dnieper, 45 km south of Kyiv, near the village of Trypillya. This is the largest energy generating facility in the Kyiv region. The main fuel is Donetsk anthracite, supplied by rail. Backup fuel - gas, fuel oil. Trypilska Thermal Power Plant is the only source of providing the population of the city of Ukrainka with thermal energy for heating and hot water supply.
The station is part of the state enterprise Centrenergo.
