Militarization of Donbass will not lead to a new war – Vedomosti
Moscow – Kiev, November 6 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) – The strengthening of rebel forces and their transition to more centralized control ahead of the elections in the DPR and LPR are obvious, but this will not lead to war, according to Vedomosti , because the parties lack the forces to resume active offensive operations.

After the elections in Donbass, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko convened an emergency meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. The NSDC meeting itself was held behind closed doors. But before locking himself up with generals and ministers, Poroshenko made a harsh speech in the presence of journalists.
The President of Ukraine said that his country’s troops need to be prepared to repel a possible attack by militias in three directions at once - along the Sea of Azov through Mariupol to Berdyansk, towards the Dnepropetrovsk region and towards Kharkov.
In Kyiv they continue to talk about a new transfer of Russian troops to Donbass. Videos have appeared on social networks about the movement of tanks and other armored vehicles in different cities of Donbass.
According to Vedomosti’s interlocutor, close to the DPR leadership, these movements were carried out demonstratively to make it clear to Kyiv that the militias are ready for military action if the security forces try to disrupt the elections.
In recent weeks, the supply of materials to the DPR and LPR forces, including from Russia, has been increasing, says another person close to the DPR leadership. Supply is being increasingly centralized, which makes it possible to influence the discipline of commanders of individual detachments. These processes are interpreted by the Ukrainian side as the entry of Russian troops, the interlocutor assures.
The strengthening of rebel forces and their transition to more centralized control is obvious, says reserve colonel Viktor Murakhovsky. But it cannot be said that the parties have enough forces to resume active offensive operations, the expert believes: for example, the Ukrainian side now has even fewer combat units in the conflict zone than in August.
