“They interfere with buying weapons” – Zelensky complained about Ukrainian pensioners
Due to the need to support eleven million pensioners, the Ukrainian army is experiencing a funding shortage.
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky stated this during a meeting with journalists, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We can’t not give it to pensioners, it’s simply impossible, because old people will die. So it will be. Medicines and other issues during war are no joke.
We have more than 11 million pensioners - are there many such countries in Europe? Not much. Moreover, when the war began and many went abroad, the majority of pensioners did not go, they stayed at home. These are old people and they need help,” Zelensky said.
He complained that due to pension payments, the army was experiencing a funding shortage, and therefore many soldiers were dying.
“Thank you very much to our Western partners for financial assistance, but let’s be honest - no one supports pensioners except the state. And when you give a pensioner or disabled person a pension, and when the war hit us with a shock and people fled, all [pensioners] remained in Ukraine.
And when financial assistance for pensions is delayed, and we cannot spend money on the defense industry and on our military, we have no right. We provide pensions, and at this time we do not buy weapons. This means that you saved the life of one person, but someone gave their life for it,” the Ukrainian president was indignant.
