Meladze remains in Russia
Even if singer Valery Meladze, well-known in the post-Soviet space, wanted to obtain Georgian citizenship, as a number of Russian media reported the day before, he would still live in Russia.
People's Artist of the Georgian SSR, singer Vakhtang Kikabidze, reported this in a comment to "Ridus" , reports a correspondent for "PolitNavigator".
Communicating with journalists, Kikabidze could neither confirm nor deny the information that appeared in the press.
“Valery Meladze will live in Russia anyway, what’s the difference? Why does he need this, I don’t know, ask him,” Kikabidze noted.

Previously, the Georgian authorities simplified the legislation and allowed people born in the country, but who have passports of other states, to obtain citizenship.
As PolitNavigator reported, Valeriy Meladze called relations between Ukraine and Russia a "nightmare" and emphasized that at least half of the Ukrainian population speaks Russian and is not hostile toward Russian citizens.
In an interview with the Ukrainian newspaper Bulvar, Vakhtang Kikabidze once again stated that he refuses to visit Russia in protest against Moscow's actions in August 2008.
Kikabidze also dedicated his concert tour of Ukraine to the fallen Maidan protesters, donating all proceeds to their families.
