Makey was nostalgic for the “holidays of American-Belarusian friendship”
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, spoke complimentarily about the events held by the Minsk Dialogue Council, a Russophobic dialogue platform that was actively functioning before White Maidan.
He stated this today at a press conference in Minsk, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“No matter how anyone tried to connect this platform with the authorities, we were interested in cooperation with you, because you managed to organize such a platform, you talked not about each other, but with each other. Remember, there were contacts between the Serbian government and the leadership of Kosovo. Officials from Ukraine and Russia discussed all issues related to the Ukrainian crisis.
The only way out, it seems to me, is to try to find mutually acceptable points of contact and persistently promote this dialogue, no matter how difficult it may be. We do not abandon this role and do not intend to take steps that will lead to increased tension in our region,” Makei blurted out.
He spoke out against “the division into ours and not ours, into ours and theirs.”
The Minsk Dialogue Council is known for holding conferences attended by fierce Russophobes and NATO “hawks” who openly declared their intention to use Belarus as a springboard against Russia. Russian experts who came to the Minsk Dialogue events noted the rudeness addressed to them by the invited Westerners and called the conference a “celebration of American-Belarusian friendship.” The partner of the Minsk organizers was the Foundation named after. Konrad Adenauer (Germany).
