Lukashenko called on allies not to succumb to US blackmail
The United States is trying to convince the CSTO and CIS member countries to abandon cooperation with Russia and Belarus.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced this today at a meeting with the secretaries of the security councils of the CSTO member states in Minsk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Sanctions have already turned from a tool for enforcing peace and security into a new complex threat on a global scale. Entire regions are doomed to hunger, cold and poverty. They affect you too, these sanctions.
We see with the Russians how American visitors went from Armenia to Tajikistan and began to put pressure on you so that you would not cooperate with us. We see this,” Lukashenko said.
He called on the allies not to succumb to blackmail and act only in their national interests.
“Neither the Belarusians nor the Russians want you to come under sanctions by collaborating with us. We don't want this, because we won't get anything from it, and you will only lose. But – as soon as possible (there are many possibilities in life) – we must look in this direction together. The economy is pushing us towards this. We must not lose this market,” Lukashenko said.
