According to Knezevic, none of the citizens who voted for changes in Montenegro and against Milo Djukanovic on August 30 of last year could have imagined that the majority of the now victorious parliamentary majority would recognize Serbia and the Serbian people as "genocidal."

“I’m ashamed, even though I voted against this resolution,” Knezevic said. “I want to apologize to all of Serbia and the Serbian people for what happened in parliament, because this is not the opinion of the majority of the population of Montenegro.”

The Serbian politician said that he and his fellow party members warned Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic before the vote that if the Srebrenica resolution and the resignation of Minister Vladimir Leposavic were voted by the liberals along with the nationalists from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Milo Djukanovic, he would no longer have the support Democratic Front, which will refuse to recognize him as prime minister.

Deputies from the Democratic Front walked out of the Assembly hall in protest the day before, and Knezevic told his coalition partners, pro-Western liberals Aleksa Bečić (Democratic Montenegro) and Dritan Abazović ( URA ), that if they abandoned their compromise with the DPS and demonstrated a willingness to return to the original principles with which they went into the elections, there was a possibility of resuming relations.

The DF leader hopes to be able to reach an agreement with the parliamentary majority leaders before formally asking for Krivokapic's resignation, but his party's position is that he definitely cannot remain as prime minister, having lost all legitimacy after Thursday's vote. He also believes that the legitimacy of the President of the Assembly, Aleksa Becic, is also questioned, since his party, together with the DPS, voted for the disgraceful resolution.

“If an agreement cannot be reached, then the logical solution would be new elections, which would be organized by a new transitional government, which is the latest proposal of the Democratic Front, since this is our responsibility to the citizens who have given us their support and trust,” concluded Knezevic.
