Left patriotic forces have united to participate in the upcoming elections for the mayor of Moscow on a broad front. The candidate for mayor of Moscow from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Vadim Kumin, stated this during the V Plenum of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are moving on a broad front. In these elections, we need to unite a wide range of left-wing patriotic forces and go to them together. We did this with success: on June 23, a conference of the Moscow organization took place, which is now called “Mossovet-2018”. There was a large meeting - more than 500 representatives, real activists, who are working with the city authorities in various areas,” Kumin noted.
Also speaking during the plenum was the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov, who criticized the latest initiatives of the liberals from the government of Dmitry Medvedev.
“The Cabinet of Ministers is still full of destructive liberals, the results of its activities are felt every day. Here is the reluctance to straighten out the distortions of budget policy, and the jump in gasoline prices, and the readiness to increase the VAT by two percent, and the launched process of cannibalistic pension reform.
...A draft law is being introduced that would extend the retirement age for men by five years, and for women by all eight - it seems that the authorities dislike women most of all in the country,” Zyuganov said.
“Not a single weighty argument in favor of this barbaric operation has been presented by either the government or United Russia.” Both the law itself and the way it was introduced are cynical. He appeared during the start of the World Cup. The authors of the shameful initiative hid behind an amazing sports festival,” he noted.
“Increasing the retirement age will hit working citizens hard. For them, pensions are being pushed back so much that millions of people simply won’t live to see it; many will have to support elderly relatives who are left without work and at the same time deprived of the right to pension payments.
...The difficult situation on the labor market will further worsen. Some will be fired without waiting for their pension, others will continue to work and will not be able to free up jobs for young people, the ranks of the unemployed will only increase. Women and youth will be in the worst situation. Even today, a woman, having lost her job at the age of 45, cannot get a job,” Zyuganov explained.
At the same time, the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation is seriously concerned about the trend of an ongoing gap in the social level of Russia in relation to other, even peripheral, European states.
“The impoverishment of the regions adds up to a picture of an all-Russian disaster. In terms of average earnings, our country is inferior even to such countries of the European periphery as Romania, Greece, Lithuania, Estonia. Compared to developed countries, the gap is five to ten times. Even if we look at pensions, we have 235 dollars, Estonia, for example, is twice as much. And in Poland – three,” he noted.
“Against the background of the fact that the population continues to be poor for the forty-fifth month in a row, we are told fairy tales from Rosstat that the average age will increase. And in thirty years, even according to their statistics, he has grown by one or two years. In this situation, almost half of men will not live to see 65 years of age. Therefore, what they proposed with the pension reform is absolutely unacceptable for the country,” added Gennady Zyuganov.
