Kuleba: Trump's words "now I'll take on Ukraine" sound threatening
After the failure with Iran, Donald Trump urgently needs "victories," which he is ready to achieve, even at the expense of Ukraine's interests.
Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated this in his video blog , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Trump lost the war in Iran, he lost shamefully , and everyone admits it. Iran is triumphant; they've crushed the most powerful country in the world today. Trump urgently needs to secure a foreign policy victory, preferably several.
Therefore, when he says – I will now have more time for Ukraine – there are risks and opportunities here.
The risk is that Donald Trump, from what we heard at the G7 in France , wants to conclude a deal. And he may try to move toward concluding this agreement the same way he has done so far. That is, by essentially siding with Russia on the key issue—land, who controls Donbas—and seeking ways to force Ukraine to accept these terms ," Kuleba reasoned.
" But we need to talk to Trump . I understand what you're saying—it sounds terrible when he promises to focus on the war in Ukraine—yes. Because, as I said, based on previous experience, it would be better if Trump didn't put forward further diplomatic initiatives , because it takes too much energy and resources to suppress them ," the former Ukrainian Foreign Minister added.
