Crimea is not yours: The Latvian mayor shocked the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry
Ukraine is just as guilty of the current events on its territory as the United States and Russia.
The mayor of Daugavpils, Latvia, Andrejs Elksniņš, stated this in an interview with Delfi.TV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

He believes that there will be no winners in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
In response to a specific question, he said:
"Crimea is part of the Russian Federation."
In addition, he refused to call Russia an “aggressor,” noting that residents of Lugansk and Donetsk found shelter in his city.
In addition, he believes that “Russia, Ukraine and the United States bear unconditional responsibility” for what happened.
Journalists asked why Ukraine was responsible.
“Everyone is responsible for the events and the situation. And first of all, diplomats, because when diplomats lose, the army acts. It has always been this way. And in this situation, diplomacy lost,” Elksnins concluded.
Reacted to the words of the Latvian politician at the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
“The mayor of the Latvian city of Daugavpils, Andrejs Elksnins, justifies Russia’s crimes in Ukraine. It is not surprising that his political force found itself on the sidelines of politics following the results of the latest elections to the Seimas of Latvia.
Fortunately, the statements of this marginal figure do not reflect either the official position of Latvia, which is friendly to us, or the views of the absolute majority of Latvians, who not only sincerely sympathize, but also actively help Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression,” the speaker of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry wrote in his blog Oleg Nikolenko
