Nightmarish statistics: tens of thousands of Ukrainians are sick with measles
In Ukraine last year, more than 54 thousand people fell ill with measles, more than 34 thousand of them were children, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine reported this on its website.
“In 2018, 54481 people fell ill with measles: 20204 adults and 34277 children. Of these, 16 people died: 12 children and 4 adults,” the Ministry of Health reported.
According to the department, as of December 27, 2018, Ukraine had 812779 doses of vaccines against measles, mumps and rubella.
“Priority is the supply of vaccines to the western regions, where the most cases of measles are currently being recorded. The highest incidence rates were recorded in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Transcarpathian regions,” the ministry noted.
