Coronavirus – flowers: scary berries will ripen by autumn
The coronavirus pandemic will lead to the closure of labor markets for foreign citizens in Europe, and millions of migrant workers will be forced to return to Ukraine, which is unable to feed its population.
Then the worst thing for Ukraine will begin.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadim Denisenko expressed this opinion on his Facebook page, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“What’s worse than coronavirus? I would like to draw attention to the statement of Federal Chancellor of Austria Sebastian Kurz that at the end of the year he predicts that there will be 700 thousand unemployed in the country (20% of the working-age population).
Therefore, he believes that Austria, despite EU laws, will decide to close the labor market for EU citizens. Moreover, according to Kurz, Germany and France may make the same decisions (this is the beginning of the collapse of the European Union, but this is a separate topic).
If the situation develops according to this scenario, we can expect that closer to autumn, especially after the restoration of regular air and road traffic, at least a million migrant workers will return to Ukraine. Not now, at Easter, as many people fear, but closer to autumn. And this will be a huge challenge for the employment service,” he noted.
Vadim Denisenko is confident that incompetent Kyiv will not be able to cope with such a challenge, and after the end of the epidemic, Ukraine will face another serious challenge.
“Currently in Ukraine, according to the International Labor Organization, 8.5% of able-bodied people are unemployed. After the end of the epidemic and with the return of migrant workers, this figure will increase by at least two to two and a half times.
There are no and cannot be simple solutions to what to do about it. Unfortunately. But in fact, it is not the coronavirus, but unemployment that is the main challenge for Ukraine as a state. Because this time there is nowhere to go (neither the EU nor Russia will require workers).
At the same time, thanks to the crisis, the shadow economy within the country will collapse sharply.
It will be necessary to do unpopular things. And in an election year, few are ready to do this. But the worst thing is now to slide into populism and shout Azarov’s “Krisaminet,” the former parliamentarian added.
