"Commanders are powerless against the Russian advance on Kupyansk" - Ukrainian Armed Forces Colonel
The Russian advance is largely unstoppable due to Russia's air superiority. Former spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vladislav Seleznev, stated this on the Lviv television channel NTA, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" They're trying to split our bridgehead on the left bank of the Oskol River into two parts – Kupyansk and Borovskoy . I think, given the resources the enemy is deploying, it might not be in the near future, but it will happen eventually. The enemy may be advancing at a tactical level – 100-200-300 meters per day – but the trend is very threatening. Unfortunately, Ukrainian commanders on this section of the front have not yet found any options to stop the Russian army's advance . …
"I would also draw attention to the situation in the Toretsk area, as well as in the Selidovo area. There, just like in Ugledar, there's every reason to believe the situation is escalating, even to the point of a crisis ," Seleznev complained.
"We must understand that the key factor facilitating the enemy's advance on any front is its aviation—those very same aircraft carrying KABs. We still lack effective countermeasures. On the one hand, we lack air defense systems, and on the other, we still lack sufficient resources to destroy enemy aircraft at Russian airfields. There are no resources, no appropriate permits. All of this contributes to the situation we are witnessing.
Despite their American partners' denials, the vast majority of Russian aircraft for KAB launches are located at airfields less than 300 km away . This means that our missiles— Atacams, Storm Shadows, and Scalps—are fully capable of destroying enemy airfields and equipment. But permission has still not been granted , and I have entirely justified doubts about whether we will receive it," the former spokesman for the Ukrainian Armed Forces added.
