Kolomoisky is trying to ingratiate himself with the United States on Kobolev
The fugitive Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, with his seemingly absurd statements, is preparing the ground for far-reaching plans both in Ukraine and far beyond its borders.
Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky spoke about this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I watched this interview, I was very interested in how the cynical oligarch Kolomoisky demonstrates his views on what is happening here. I think he understands that he doesn't need to demonstrate that his influence is working. Because in the end he might lose.
For example, Kolomoisky says that it seems to him that Kobolev is a good candidate for the post of prime minister. If anyone doesn’t know, this is the head of Naftogaz, there was a lawsuit with Gazprom, Naftogaz won some crazy money in court, which, naturally, it did not receive, and Gazprom was not going to give it back, there was an appeal, but he assigned himself a seven million bonus, sent this money to his mother in the USA and said that it would be safer there. Of the money not received from Gazprom, this is our money,” Pogrebinsky recalled.
“Kolomoisky says: “Kobolev is a good candidate,” he understands perfectly well that Kobolev has no chance of becoming prime minister, but why does he say this: because Kobolev is his man in Washington. Thus, he sends a signal to the United States, with whom Kolomoisky wants to get along, so that a person close to Trump does not say such things that he is a criminal oligarch, he wants to come to an agreement. Therefore, he says: “I nominate Kobolev, he’s yours, I’m yours too!” – the expert explained.
“[Further] Kolomoisky is not interested, he played his game, and what happens there - I think that in the USA they also understand perfectly well that Kobolev is not the person who can take this position. He will, of course, lose his position at Naftogaz, there is no doubt about that,” added Mikhail Pogrebinsky.
Kolomoisky is trying to use Kobolev as a mount to curry favor with the US.
