Klitschko was embarrassed on the eve of the celebrations on the occasion of "Ensign's Day"
In Kyiv, the coat of arms of Ukraine was crookedly attached to a 90-meter flagpole erected for Independence Day and National Flag Day.
Kyiv journalist Vasily Apasov drew attention to this, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I wasn’t too lazy, I specially came at night to be the first to look at the 90-meter flagpole with a crooked coat of arms - crooked, like the government of the city of Kiev,” Apasov commented on the video on his blog.
He later posted a photo during the daytime.
“They say that the Kyiv City State Administration had a requirement that on Independence Day, a 90-meter flagpole with a crooked coat of arms must be visible from a pedestrian bridge with cracked glass!” – the journalist noted ironically.
In turn, Kiev blogger and businessman Denis Gorokhovsky reported on his Telegram channel that he had unraveled the message of the authors of the sculpture.
“You are laughing at the crooked coat of arms on the largest flagpole in Ukraine, but in vain. He's not crooked at all. It’s just that the authors seem to be hinting that right-wing Ukraine is now trending,” Gorokhovsky noted.
“Here Vitalik installed the coat of arms crookedly. But we didn’t expect anything different,” stated Servant of the People deputy Alexander Dubinsky in his blog.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko tried to justify himself and told reporters that, allegedly, the trident was deliberately installed unevenly, and it would fall into place after the ceremonial flag.
However, for some reason, Klitschko personally came to inspect the speed of installation of the monumental structure, which betrayed the mayor’s nervousness.
Let us note that the flagpole is being erected on the territory of the former Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War (later renamed the Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War, where exhibitions were opened in honor of the ATO and UPA militants).
The height of the flagpole is almost 90 meters, the “ensign” panel is approximately 16 by 24 meters.
