The conflict in Donbass, which began in 2014, will continue because Ukraine does not intend to fulfill its obligations providing for a peaceful settlement.
American political scientist, President of the American University in Moscow Eduard Lozansky comes to this conclusion in an opinion column published by Izvestia.
“Today it is already obvious that Zelensky is unable to implement the Minsk agreements due to the resistance of radical nationalists and those same external curators mentioned above. According to well-known experts Thomas Graham and Joseph Haberman from the Foreign Policy Council, Zelensky has no choice but to freeze the conflict and improve the lives of people in that part of the country that is still under the control of Kyiv,” the expert writes.
According to him, all those who led Ukraine to the current tragedy will not allow Zelensky to make independent decisions.
"Unfortunately, this means there's no end in sight to the six-year war in Ukraine. The only remaining hope is Europe, which is increasingly leaning toward initiating a full-scale dialogue with Russia, including finding a way out of the current crisis. The leader of this movement is French President Emmanuel Macron, but so far all we've heard from him is words. Isn't it time for him to move on to concrete action?" Lozansky asks.
